Health and Safety Grid

This is my health and safety grid. This will help me when producing and filming my music video because I will analyse the setting and establish the health and safety hazards that I have highlighted here in my health and safety table. By producing a health and safety grid, this will help reduce the risk of hazards and injury when filming my music video.

Lighting Moodboard

This is the lighting style I would like to use for my music video. Through the use of mise-en-scene, I will create this lighting style to support the genre of my music video (alternative rock and punk). This lighting style connotes feelings of unease and agitation for the audience. I have taken inspiration from the 2012 American comedy horror film Dark Shadows; all the way through this film, there is the use of this style of lighting and it really supports the setting and the style of the film. As a result, I think this will be ideal for my music video as it will help create a sense of scare for the audience.

Location Moodboard

This is how I want the mise-en-scene to be shown. The forest, in my music video, represents, through the use of mise-en-scene,  a scary, deserted and isolated setting to connote to the audience feelings of unease. This links well with the genre of this music video because it is alternative punk and rock: the original music video and the band (Evanescence) are not main stream therefore I have planned to make my music video alternative to challenge the original conventions of my particular genre. These pictures are generally dark and were shot at night time however I will not film my music video whilst it is dark as I want my music video to be shot in daylight to portray the elegant and angelic female that is my protagonist.

In my music video, I want the female protagonist to walk towards the edge of a cliff as if she is going to jump off. I will shoot this scene in South Cave at the quarry; this is an ideal location because it is a dark, and abandoned setting. Through the use of mise-en-scene, the location connotes feelings of unease to the audience.

Makeup Moodboard

This is my makeup mood board. I want the female protagonist to be wearing minimal/nude makeup; she will have 'panda eyes'. I will achieve this by applying the mascara down her face to create the effect of watery eyes and as if she has been crying. I also want the female protagonist to be wearing black contact lenses; this is to portray the idea that my protagonist is not actually there. This links to my lyrics because the lyrics state 'bring me to life' and 'wake me up inside' therefore this evidently suggests to the audience that the female protagonist is lost and confused.

With the exception of the lead singer in the band (who I want to be wearing eyeliner), none of the males will be wearing makeup.

Advertising my music video

As the original music video featured on Vevo, I think it will be necessary to advertise my music video on Vevo too. Vevo is a global institution owned and operated (in cooporation) by Universal Music Group, Google and Sony Music Entertainment. Vevo specializes in advertising music videos from two of the three major music labels; Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment. Although Evanescence worked with EMI (previously the forth label in "the major four" however it has now been sold to Universal Music Group), I feel Vevo will be a opportunistic way to advertise my music video. Evanescence obviously have a mass audience if they have previously worked with two of the three major labels therefore I think by advertising my music video on a global service, I can easily spread the word of my music video.

If I am going to advertise my music video via Vevo, I will use Vevo through the use of Youtube. Youtube is a global company that operates around the world; advertising many different ranges of music videos from all different kinds of genres. Evanescence have advertised their music videos through Vevo on Youtube therefore I think it will an effective way to advertise my music video. Youtube is owned by Google (which, in comparison owns Vevo), seen as though Evanescence is aimed at a mass audience, Youtube will be an extremely good opportunity to advertise my music video.

Evanescence also advertise their music on iTunes. iTunes is a great way to advertise their music because it is open to all different genres, interests and styles of music. Initially developed by Bill Kincaid, SoundJam MP was soon changed to iTunes when Apple purchased it in 2000. Apple is a global company which is easy access for anyone anywhere around the world. iTunes mainly specializes in music audio rather than music videos however you can watch music video via iTunes and then download them onto your iPhone.

Music channels are a great way to advertise music videos due to them being cheap and easily accessible by a mass audience. As of August 2013, approximately 97,654,000 American households received MTV therefore this is a brilliant place to advertise my music video. Sony Music Entertainment, Universal and Warner Brothers all advertise their music through music channels.

Facebook is as great way to advertise my music video because it is free to advertise. Although my institution is signed to a major music label and they can afford to advertise within big companies; I think Facebook is an extremely effective way to advertise my music video. This image shows the amount of people who use Facebook:
Facebook is extremely popular with teenagers, roughly 12 - 25; this applies to my music video. By advertising on Facebook, I will be primarily advertising my music video at the specific target audience my music video is aimed at.
